IUOE Local 137
Chartered in 1938, Local 137 has over 75 years of experience in negotiating fair wages and benefit packages for our members while providing the most qualified workforce for our signatory contractors. Our local union represents over 900 operating engineers in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties of New York. Local 137 has trained and certified operators working on many high-profile work sites in the industry, including the construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
In the past year, our membership has taken on the task of further establishing our presence in the Hudson Valley region. Local 137’s leadership has been completely rebuilt – beginning with our newly elected Business Manager Jeffrey J. Loughlin. In addition, all other elected officials and executive board members have been replaced and are committed to ensuring that Local 137 is comprised of the most productive workforce available.
The International Union of Operating Engineers
The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) has been representing the best heavy equipment operators for over 117 years. Founded in 1896, IUOE today has approximately 400,000 members in 123 local unions throughout the United States and Canada. IUOE is the 10th largest union in the AFL-CIO. Over 100 state-of-the-art training and apprenticeship programs ensure that IUOE members are the safest, most productive, and highly skilled craft workers.
This representation is the core of IUOE’s mission. From ensuring protections of prevailing wages on public projects, to alleviating healthcare costs through coalition building, to improving our contractors’ competitiveness, IUOE has and will continue to be tirelessly dedicated to the common interests of its members.
